Do you believe or not? This is a photo post on my facebook recently.
It is all about this precious namecard that I kept more than 11 years ago:
About 11 years ago, a young and thin Vietnamese software engineer to be in London for the first time, all alone himself. In his first day to work, he had to go to the office at 13 Burton street, Mayfair. The office working hour is 9.00am to 5.00pm. He got on the train from 6.00, got off the train around 7.00am at Green Park station, he went round the wrong turn,
all the way accross the Green Park, passing to and fro in circle of the infamous No 10 Downing street only when he realized he lost his way. Walking back across the Park again under the rain, he was still in middle of "nowhere" surrounded by ever Green color. Fortunately, an old Indian jogger passing by, gave him a hand, show him all the way out of the park and to the road where he can walk a few minutes to the office. The gentleman also gave the young man a namecard and asked to contact whenever he needed any further help while being in UK.
That day, the young engineer got into the office waiting room, wet from head to toe at around 9.30am after more than 2 hours panicking around . He wasn't entirely sure thatSarah Leeder , his customer and project manager, felt if that was too late for his first day there :D. No further contact and the name card has been kept intact ever since.
Now, let s' see if the social network is powerful enough for getting back the connection in this modern digital life.
